ESPO Travel Stipends

The travel stipends below are available for ESPO members only.

Carol A. Schutz Student Travel Stipend

Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization (ESPO) student members are eligible for a chance to win a Carol A. Schutz Student Travel Stipend. The stipend is to help defray the cost attending GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipients of the Carol A. Schutz Student Travel Stipends are chosen by lottery. In order to be eligible, one must fulfill all of the requirements and instructions for submission outlined below.

Open Submission Period
July 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019

Requirements

  • Must be a current student member of ESPO and have an updated GSA Connect Profile.

  • Must be able to attend the ESPO Breakfast and Community Meeting, as the stipend will be presented, date and time TBA 
  • Must be able to attend one of the following lectures to receive the stipend (held on different days and times):

    • GSA Donald P. Kent and Robert W. Kleemeier Lecture
    • GSA Margaret M. and Paul B. Baltes Award in Behavioral and Social Gerontology Lecture
    • GSA M. Powell Lawton Lecture
    • GSA Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging Lecture
    • GSA Excellence in Rehabilitation of Aging Persons Award and Joseph T. Freeman Lecture

Submit using the online nominations portal by July 31.

TJ McCallum Memorial Student Travel Stipend

GSA student members with a focus on caregiving or technology and aging are eligible for a chance to win a travel stipend in the amount of $200. The stipend is to help defray the cost of attending GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting. In order to be eligible, one must fulfill all of the requirements and instructions for submission outlined below.

Requirements

  • Must be a current GSA paid dues ESPO member and have an updated GSA Connect Profile.
  • Must have an accepted paper, poster, or symposium paper with a focus on caregiving or technology and aging for the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting in Austin.
  • Must attend one of the following lectures to receive the stipend (held on different days and times):
    • GSA Donald P. Kent and Robert W. Kleemeier Lecture
    • GSA Margaret M. and Paul B. Baltes Award in Behavioral and Social Gerontology Lecture
    • GSA M. Powell Lawton Lecture
    • GSA Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging Lecture
    • GSA Excellence in Rehabilitation of Aging Persons Award and Joseph T. Freeman Lecture

Behavioral and Social Sciences Student Travel and Engagement Stipend

ESPO members within the Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) Section are eligible for a chance to win a BSS Travel Stipend in the amount of $200. The stipend is to help defray the cost of attending GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipients of the BSS Travel Stipend are chosen by lottery. In order to be eligible, one must fulfill all of the requirements and instructions for submission outlined below.

July 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019

Requirements

  • Must be a current ESPO member of the BSS Section and have an updated GSA Connect Profile.
  • Must attend the Behavioral and Social Sciences section luncheon on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 12:00pm- 1:30pm.
  • Must attend one of the following lectures to receive the stipend (held on different days and times):

The recipients of the HS Travel Stiepnd are chosen by lottery. In order to be eligible, one must fulfill all of the requirements and instructions for submission outlined below.

Requirements

  • Must be a ESPO member of the HS Section and have an updated GSA Connect Profile.
  • Must attend the Health Sciences section luncheon on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 12:00pm- 1:30pm.
  • Must attend one of the following lectures to receive the stipend (held on different days and times):

This stipend is to help defray the cost of attending GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipients of the SRPP Travel Stipend are chosen by lottery. In order to be eligible, one must fulfill all of the requirements and instructions for submission outlined below.
