The Gerontological Society of America awards GSA fellow status (FGSA) and Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education fellow status (FAGHE).

To determine eligibility, review the 2021 Code of Procedure and Requirements for Fellows Status. Nominees must satisfy the society-wide and section-specific requirements outlined in this document before submitting materials.

ACCESS THE ONLINE NOMINTION FORM HERE- Nominations may be made from December 15 through February 15.

Fellow nominations must be made by an active fellow.

  • GSA maintains a list of active GSA fellows and AGHE fellows.
  • The nominator must be a member of the same member group as the nominee.

All packet materials must be submitted via the online form no later than 11:45 p.m. PST on February 15.

Fellow nomination packets must include the following items:

  • A single nomination letter from a fellow in the same section as the nominee. The letter must address the general criteria as well as member group-specific criteria. The nomination letter must include at least 3 signatures (may include the nominator). The remainder of the signatories are not required to be GSA fellows.

After the nomination packet has been submitted, it will go through several stages of reviews. Results will be provided by e-mail in May 2020. GSA will honor the new fellows with a pin and a framed certificate at the 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting.

Please note: once a nomination for fellow status has been received by the central office, there will be no communication regarding the status of the nomination until the various fellows review panels have made their decision.

Attempts to communicate with the fellows committees will be rerouted to GSA staff .
